Abstract	The PLEIADES project is part of the DRIVE II Program. The objectives of PLEIADES are to design, test and evaluate advanced and integrated road transport informatic (RTI) systems for providing traveler information and network management on the road corridor. The corridor consists of routes between London and the English Channel ports, connecting with the Channel Tunnel and other cross-channel seas links to Calais, Dunkerque, then to Paris, Lille and into Belgium. Emphasis is placed on the inter-urban traffic management aspects of the project, which include the linking of traffic control centers to traffic information centers, strategies for network traffic control, strategies for the operation of variable message signs (VMSs), and the collection and distribution of traffic surveillance and fog information.
