| Abstract | The χ(3) nonlinear properties of slotted hybrid silicon photonic waveguides infiltrated with third-order nonlinear materials (NM) are studied by modelling the self-phase modulation (SPM). The broadness and intensity of SPM spectrum are investigated through nonlinear $FOM_{TPA}$ optimization to inhibit the detrimental two-photo absorption in slot waveguides, which demonstrates slot waveguides with higher $FOM_{TPA}$ could perform as wide but much more intense broadened spectrum than those with low $FOM_{TPA},$ even though high $FOM_{TPA}$ slot waveguides intrinsically have larger effective mode areas, namely weaker Kerr effects. This study will draw attention to future nonlinear optimization of hybrid silicon waveguides to make balance between effective mode areas related Kerr effects and $FOM_{TPA}$ related TPA inhibition. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
