Abstract	The Fast Multipole Expansion Method (FMEM) has been widely used in such diversified fields as digital signal processing, micromagnetic field simulations to calculation of capacitance. Furthermore FMEM can also be used to evaluate convolutions. Therefore FMEM can be considered a generic tool like FFT for signal processing. In this paper we propose an object oriented framework for a general implementation of the FMEM. The proposed framework is consists of abstract data structures and algorithms for the FMEM implementation. A particular implementation of FMEM will extend the abstract objects of the framework and execute the predefined algorithm. We have provided 2 examples of such extension of the proposed framework for particular FMEM implementations.
