Abstract	Filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) transmission techniques are being studied and developed as alternatives or extensions for family of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) techniques. Comparatively higher spectral efficiency and capability of having a continuous transmission without guard intervals or cyclic prefixes are among the key inherent attractions. It is attempted to conduct an analysis on self interference of a causal multirate FBMC system supported by one of most stable subcarrier filters. Two types of self interferences under different synchronization conditions are investigated. These are interference generated from a desired symbol to the other symbols and interference generated from any other symbol to a particular symbol where the knowledge of those is highly useful for transmitter and receiver developments leading to an interference free reliable wireless transmission. Probability distribution functions of them are also given. Numerical results for asynchronous mode with offsets in time, frequency, time-frequency and synchronous mode are discussed.
