Abstract | The paper discusses the effectiveness of the MicroGrid (MG) in a distribution system. Combined heat and power (CHP) system has been used to enhance the overall efficiency of the power system. Microturbines have been used for CHP operation in this paper. The various methods of controls of the MG are also discussed. A simple and low cost model for MG based on frequency droop control for active power generation, has been proposed. The proposed model can be used in plug and play mode of operation of the MG. The model has been simulated on the MATLAB platform. Performance of the model has been studied under grid connected and under islanded condition. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
