| Abstract | Multiple-break vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) has been identified as an effective way to expand from the present low and middle voltage level to high voltage level, where the SF gas-blast circuit breaker is widely used. However, in multiple-break VCB in series, the voltage applied to each break does not become equal because of stray capacitance, opening non-synchronously or differences of contact property, which is detrimental to breaking capacity. An enhanced PSCAD/EMTDC model of simulating dielectric recovery process of signal and triple-break vacuum interrupters was developed, whose accuracy was verified by comparing simulation results with test data obtained by Edward Huber. The other research focused on choice of rational voltage sharing measures for triple-break vacuum interrupters. Two voltage-sharing measures for triple-break vacuum interrupters including shunt grading capacitor and metal oxide arrester (MOA) were investigated and compared. It is advised that both shunt grading capacitor and MOA should be considered to be installed. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
