Abstract	In conventional secure economic dispatch and, more generally, in conventional active optimal power flows, power system security after contingency is taken into account through additional constraints. This is not completely satisfactory from an economic point of view. In this paper, first the problem statement is improved so as to become economically satisfactory, by introducing possible corrective load curtailments after contingency and their expected costs. Then a completely new algorithm is proposed in order to get the optimum directly, i.e. in a single computation, without any time consuming initial set up step. Numerical tests illustrate the economic meaning of that new statement and the validity of the proposed algorithm. Simple extensions of the proposed statement would be able to provide smart solutions to network congestion in open access framework.
