Abstract | Very large structures characterized by free public access, high traffic volume and 24 hour operation present unique challenges to security providers. Airports and Casinos are among the many types of facilities that embody these characteristics. In addition to providing physical security and access control for occupants and visitors, security providers must also account for secure conveyance, handling and storage of material (fuel, baggage, food, waste, etc.) and equipment over large distances and wide areas. A defining characteristic shared by these structures is the dynamic nature of the physical layout. It is almost the "hallmark" of these structures that they are constantly in a state of change due to remodeling, maintenance, new construction, addition and/or deletion of services, and temporary storage or staging of materials or equipment These facilities also employ large numbers of personnel who must have free access to work areas that are not always physically contiguous. Many of these individuals expect or require unrestricted passage to and from the separated work areas Once inside the nominally secured perimeters of these work areas, personnel are under little or no control. Because of the dynamic characteristics of these environments, monitoring from a central location can be difficult and directing the responders can be confusing. This paper describes man-portable sensor technology that acts as an adjunct to existing security systems and interfaces with existing communications systems already in place. It can be very rapidly deployed and re-deployed by minimally trained personnel and provides the opportunity for prompt, coordinated response to security breaches by responders in close proximity to the incursion. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
