| Abstract | A model is defined for a frequency-hopped spread-spectrum system, and performance is derived for the aspects of system variables by both mathematical analysis and simulation. Interference is characterized at both the symbol level and the packet levels. Values for the jamming parameters a, rho /sub t/ and rho /sub f/ that cause maximum degradation in the users' throughput are determined. A number of specific examples are presented to illustrate the results. It is shown that, unlike the case of unspread systems, performance does not depend heavily on the burstiness of the user traffic or on whether slotted operation is used. As the number of frequency bins q increases, the difference in performance between slotted and unslotted operation becomes insignificant. For large q, only slightly less throughput is obtainable when the traffic is bursty as compared with continuous transmission by the users; this fact justifies the consideration of random-access techniques in a spread-spectrum environment. The effect of the jamming pulse length a is closely related to gamma , the amount of the interference that a symbol can tolerate. If the jamming pulse length is large, the effect of the jammer is similar to additional user traffic of an equal load. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
