| Abstract | We discuss the requirements and performance of a channel control modem (CCM) for use in demand assigned multiple access (DAMA) satellite communication applications. The DAMA net controller manages the network assignments via the forward orderwire bursts (also called packets), and the net members request for services via the returned orderwire. A net member may also communicate with any other net member via an intermittently assigned time slot. Thus, the important feature of the CCM operation is burst mode communication. The burst acquisition and the bit error rate performance of the CCM will directly affect the overall performance of the DAMA network. Depending upon the band (UHF, SHF, C, Ku, or X) in use and the type of users (mobile or stationary), the signal conditions for the modem operation can be quite different. This CCM is designed to operate under all the conditions for military as well as commercial users. The digital signal processing approach provides the modem with maximum flexibility allowing it to work with preamble structures specified in MIL-STD-188-182 and 183 or any other future standards such as for SHF and tri-band (X, C, and Ku) applications. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
