Abstract	A novel approach called spatial-temporal correlator (STC) for code acquisition and beamforming weight acquisition in DS-CDMA mobile communication systems with adaptive antenna array is proposed in this paper. The STC uses the pilot symbol (channel) and incorporated Wiener filter with the conventional PN code correlator. The proposed STC exploits the spatial and temporal information of the received signal and thus achieve improved detection performance. The detection probability and false alarm probability of the STC is theoretically analyzed under spatial-temporal AWGN and Rayleigh fading environment. Simulation results are presented to verify the performance analysis. These results show that the proposed STC can effectively acquire the adaptive beamforming weight and have improved PN code acquisition performance.
