| Abstract | Photovoltaic array needs an intermediate maximum power point trackers as their v-i characteristics are non-linear. Successful power tracking depends on the converter and its tracking parameters. The purpose of this investigation is to introduce a procedure for selection of the tracking parameters. To demonstrate the proposed approach a fourth order buck converter, belongs to higher order family, is chosen for photovoltaic power tracking applications. This topology essentially belongs to buck family and also results in improved performance as compared to conventional buck converter. Mathematical models of the proposed converter are formulated and then boundary conditions, under which the converter able to track maximum power, are obtained. The total combined photovoltaic power tracking scheme is simulated in PSIM and then power tracking performance characteristics are generated. The proposed MPPT parameters selection procedure is validated through experimental results. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
