| Abstract | The authors consider ester fluid Midel 7131 and silicon fluid for use in distribution transformers. The electrical and dielectric properties of the two fluids were determined in new condition and after an aging period of 1000 h under severe conditions. The dielectric dissipation factor tan delta was almost the same for the silicon and ester fluid in the temperature range between 0 and 120 degrees C. A temperature change from 20 to 120 degrees C increased these values from about 7*10/sup -2/ to about 3*10/sup -1/. The dielectric strength of the fluids is highly dependent on humidity. A 1000-h aging process at 150 degrees C under the influence of 3 g/1 Cu, 3 g/1 Fe, 3 g/l Al, and atmospheric oxygen caused an increase in tan delta by two orders of magnitude, whereas there was no significant change to be observed with the silicon fluid. The electric strength was reduced for both fluids by a 1000-h aging process. The effect of this aging process was more pronounced with the silicon fluid than with the ester fluid.< |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
