Abstract | Static/dynamic squat lifting capacity of 24 normal Chinese male adults was correlated with their back/knee strength. The static squat lifting capacity was measured by the Omni 200. The dynamic squat lifting capacity was measured using the Blankenship approach. Back strength parameters, including isometric peak torque and velocity of isoinertial movement at 25% and 50% isometric strength, were measured by the B200 machine. Knee strength parameters, including by peak torque in performing isokinetic flexion/extension under concentric/eccentric contraction at slow (60/spl deg//s) and fast (180/spl deg//s) speed using the Cybex 6000 machine. It was shown that the dynamic squat lifting capacity had significantly correlation with all the knee strength parameters with r-value ranged from 0.451 to 0.606 (p<0.05). It was found that the static squat lifting capacity only significantly correlated with the knee strength parameters in extension with r-values ranged from 0.422 to 0.581 (p<0.05). A statistically significant multiple linear regression equation for predicting dynamic squat lifting capacity using back/knee strength parameters was derived using stepwise linear regression method. Further biomechanical analysis is proposed to refine the model by investigating the relative significance of each part of the body in performing a squat lifting. |

It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
