| Abstract | The Naval Weapons Support Center Crane (NWSCC) has been conducting a flight simulation test program for navigational satellite batteries. This program has two sets of cells of the rechargeable alkaline nickel-cadmium type, one with old Pellon 2505 separators, the other with the new Pellon 2536. These cells are undergoing a flight simulation schedule which mimics the charge/discharge cycling of the power supply in the satellite. Periodically, one cell of each type is withdrawn from test and subjected to the NASA destructive physical analysis (DPA) procedures (X-711-74-279, Revision A, December 1980). The purpose of the monitoring DPA is to establish possible failure mechanisms and a prospective lifetime for the actual satellite batteries. The overall purpose is to compare analytical data for the two cells with different separator materials. Materials Analysis Section at NWSCC has obtained data from a baseline cell set and a cell set after approximately one year of flight simulation. The presentation will review the data obtained thus far and comment upon the changes observed in the physical and chemical composition of these cells. It will also compare the states of the two cells as a function of the separator types. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
