Abstract	In this paper, an overview of international regulation on conducted and radiated interference and susceptibility is presented. In particular, the EC Directive 89/336/CEE, the several ways a manufacturer may use to assert the conformity of the products he trades with that directive and the standards related with interference and susceptibility levels and with tests are reported. The need for certification of electric/electronic products according to Directive 89/336/GEE is at present mandatory in all EC countries. In Portugal, the mandatory regime started in 1 January 1996. The paper ends with the presentation of the Portuguese structure developed to assist industry in the certification of products according to that directive. A brief discussion of the performance of the structure is also included.
