| Abstract | Wiberg matrix factorization breaks a matrix Y into low-rank factors U and V by solving for V in closed form given U, linearizing V (U) about U, and iteratively minimizing ‖Y-UV (U)‖2 with respect to U only. This approach factors the matrix while effectively removing V from the minimization. Recently Eriksson and van den Hengel extended this approach to L1, minimizing ‖Y-UV (U)‖1. We generalize their approach beyond factorization to minimize an arbitrary function that is nonlinear in each of two sets of variables. We demonstrate the idea with a practical Wiberg algorithm for L1 bundle adjustment. We also show that one Wiberg minimization can be nested inside another, effectively removing two of three sets of variables from a minimization. We demonstrate this idea with a nested Wiberg algorithm for L1 projective bundle adjustment, solving for camera matrices, points, and projective depths. We also revisit L1 factorization, giving a greatly simplified presentation of Wiberg L1 factorization, and presenting a successive linear programming factorization algorithm. Successive linear programming outperforms L1 Wiberg for most large inputs, establishing a new state-of-the-art for for those cases. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
