Abstract	In the literature are proposed different architectures and algorithms finalized to mitigate the impacts of mobility on the real-time services to mobile users; several new architectures are proposed here. Since the dynamics of the resources in mobile computing environments are much more severe than in wire-line environments, the need is perceived in the scientific community to provide effective mechanisms for adaptation at multiple bandwidth levels. In this paper we address the problem of handoff management in a multimedia network with mobile host. We propose a rate adaptation algorithm called degradation degree average fair adaptation algorithm (DDAFA) that regulates the adaptation of bandwidth levels of the flows during their life cycle. The rate adaptation algorithm is based on a defined QoS index called degradation degree. This index considers the flow bandwidth degradation of the mobile host during its movement between wireless cells and it assures that any flow inside the mobile wireless network receives fairly the same bandwidth degradation.
