| Abstract | This paper presents the validation of a method for a modal transformation of operational end winding vibrations, which can be monitored by fibre-optic accelerometers. The validation is done by the analysis of the vibrational behaviour of a mechanical finite element model which is excited by electromagnetic forces and deformations of the stator core. The study focuses on the connection end because of the higher complexity of this end winding compared to the non-connection end. After the validation different strategies for the placement of the fibre-optic accelerometers are discussed. The modal observation of operational end winding vibrations is found to be a useful method to represent and analyse the vibrational behaviour. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
