| Abstract | An inertial electrostatic confinement fusion (IECF) device can produce copious amount of neutrons and protons from D-D and D-3 He fusion reactions using $D_{2}$ and $^{3}He$ fuels. In order to measure the reaction rate of $D-^{3}He,$ a proton counting system is constructed using a silicon diode detector. When used with a metallic foil and an electron deflection magnet, the present proton counting system provides a good signal/noise ratio for 14.7 MeV protons even in the presence of high energy electron beams, hard X-rays. Meanwhile unaccountable signals at -8 MeV, which is different from the signals of D-D or $D-^{3}He$ protons have been observed, whose origin has eventually revealed by spatial distribution determination by use of movable collimator masks installed in front of the detector. The production rates of the 14.7 MeV protons from $D-^{3}He$ and neutrons from D-D fusion reactions have been measured as functions of D $_{2}-^{3}He$ fuel composition and the discharge bias voltage, which agree well with the theoretical predictions |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
