| Abstract | An enhanced multiple access scheme is presented for wireless ATM networks. The DSAMA (dynamic slot allocation multiple access), which was proposed by Wu et al. (see ICC97, p.1560-65, 1997), is a combination of reservation multiple access protocol and dynamic slot allocation algorithm. The slot utilization in DSAMA is higher than other existing integrated services multiple access, e.g. PRMA, etc. However, in DSAMA, it uses an orthogonal code for reservation, and the application of this orthogonal code strongly depends on the speed of a special chip, which is used to generate the orthogonal code. It requires the speed of this chip to be equal to the channel rate. Unfortunately, this will limit the application range of this MAC scheme. We present a new reservation method from a more general point of view, which makes the MAC protocol free from the hardware. By using an orthogonal address code and a new RR slot, the collision rate of the W-cell is reduced to a very low level. In addition, due to the limitation of the bandwidth available in the wireless network, we propose a more effective dynamic slot allocation algorithm. With a more exact boundary variable and a new allocation mechanism, we obtain a higher statistical multiplexing gain. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
