Abstract	The actual trends on telecommunications and electronics in general are the convergence to all-IP networks and protocols. Consequently, new devices are appearing requiring more and more IP addresses. This is the situation present around the home/industrial automation and in general remote monitoring. Nowadays more homes and buildings are entering into the future thanks to the appearance of control technologies that allow that a group of devices could work all together to provide the automation of the place. But each of these devices needs an IP address to communicate with the others and to be able to be contactedfrom outside. The actual version of the Internet Protocol (IPv4) has an important limitation in terms of the number of IP addresses for these new uses of the Network. IPv6 offers the solution of this situation, because it increases them exponentially, and facilitates a lot of new very interesting features for these scenarios. In this environment come out the 6-Plug system that allows a secure IPv6 access to your home and industrial automation devices. It is based on the UPnP (Universal Plug & Play) technology to discover and control the devices distributed across the local network.
