| Description | The consensus of attendees at the Second Workshop on New Concepts for Far-Infrared/Submillimeter Space Astronomy is that the Single Aperture Far-IR telescope (SAFIR), a cooled spaceborne observatory, is important for the future of far-infrared astronomy. This paper describes the specifications and capabilities of SAFIR, possible designs for SAFIR, and suggests a development strategy for the technology necessary for the telescope. |
