| Description | Measurements of roller skewing in a 118 mm bore roller bearing operating at shaft speeds to 12000 rpm are reported. High speed motion pictures of a modified roller were taken through a derotation prism to record skewing as the roller moved through loaded and unloaded regions of the bearing. Subsequent frame by frame measurement of the photographic film provided information on roller skewing. Radial and tangential skew amplitudes of .4 to .5 degrees were observed with .5 degree misalignment. |
