| Abstract | We appreciate the opportunity to further discuss our recent study on the potential for behavioral and psychiatric functioning to mediate the relationship between sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) and cognitive functioning (1), in the context of the recent commentary raising a variety of critiques on this report (2). In the following paragraphs it will become clear that such commentary unfortunately falls outside the realm of providing substantive and informative reporting based on an adequate understanding of the current state of sleep medicine as it pertains to SDB in children, neuropsychological assessment, or current practices in statistics. The bulk of concerns as raised by Barwick and Guilleminault appears to involve our use of several highly validated scales of behavioral and cognitive functioning in children. In support of their arguments, the authors take the somewhat confusing and misleading stance that our discussion of the wide applicability of these measures to various clinical populations does not necessarily imply that such measures are adequate or extensively validated in our population involving sleep disordered children. A cursory examination of the recent literature in this field should illustrate the common clinical use and relevance of these measures to this child sleep medicine (e.g., review articles such as 3-5). National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
