Abstract	We report a Pd-catalyzedroute to heterocycles bearing a tetrasubstitutedalkene fragment. Our approach merges the intramolecular carbopalladationof tethered alkynes with an alkylation step produced by the C–Ccleavage of cyclobutanol derivatives. An alkenyl-Pd(II) intermediatehas been isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction studies.Interestingly, the nature of the tethering alkynyl chain influencesthe E/Z stereochemistry of the alkenylfragment in the functionalized heterocycles.
