| Abstract | Nowadays batik intensively developed as a creative industry in various regions. One of the creative industry area is Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The purpose of this art creation research is to produce new characteristic batik motif of East Nusa Tenggara, particularly in the Kupang area. The source of batik inspiration to create batik Kupang come from traditional ikat motifs. The methods used are data collection, theme observation, inspiration sources assesment, design motifs creation and batik embodiment. The results are six motifs of batik Kupang, namely: Rukun Kupang Motif, Teguh Bersatu Motif, Pucuk Mekar Motif, Liris Kupang Motif, Kuda Sepasang Motif and Kuda Kupang Motif. The preference test results of 60 respondents indicated that Kuda Kupang Motif is the most preferred with 27% of results, while Kuda Sepasang Motif gain 21%, Liris Kupang Motif 16%, Teguh Bersatu Motif 15%, Kupang Rukun Motif 14% and Pucuk Mekar Motif 7%.
