| Abstract | This research aims to determine the ethnosentrism among groups of students in class XI IPS SMA N 1 Sungai Ambawang. The research method is a form of qualitative descriptive research. The participants of this research werw 4 teachers and 6 ethnic group of students. Conducted interviews and observations of to the 6 ethnic groups carried on for 2 month. The research findings showed that the group in class XI IPS SMA N 1 Sungai Ambawang tends to ethnocentrism, they are across ethnic groups are unconsciously choosing only intra-ethnic group membership, with ethnocentrism characteristic compete and create separation between groups, in terms of maintaining the group to be recognized and become a major role in their environment, have together led to ethnic distinetiveness not only in individual particularities, which has a strong ethnic identitiy, and maintaining group agreement, between groups of students but not to the levels in terms of presence, discriminating, discrimination between groups.
