| Abstract | been attracting much interest as a novel electrolyte material containing no solvent. On the other hand, a demand for increasing the energy density of the Li-ion battery has been so strong in order to make the electric devices and hybrid vehicles more useful. As the energy density becomes higher, more serious damage could be expected as a result of the accident. And cells and modules should be in strict control in order to avoid thermal runaway. Generally, it is believed that exothermic reaction involving electrolyte occurs in the initial stage of self heating and accelerate the thermal runaway of the cell. Several papers reported the thermal behavior of electrode material for Li-ion battery 1-3. And it is expected that the improvement in the thermal stability of electrolyte and in the reactivity of electrolyte and charged electrode material |
