| Abstract | for winter and summer climate contingencies, consumption shows an increase of 1.9 % compared with 2009. Consumption by business and private customers came to 216.9 TWh, an increase of 7.2 % compared with 2009 (202.3 TWh); consumption by large-scale industry and SME/SMIs came to 259.2 TWh, an increase of 3.4 % compared with 2009 (250.8 TWh). Generation in France reached 550.2 TWh, an increase of 31.1 TWh compared with 2009 (519.1 TWh), or +6.0 % ; the structure of the generating facilities helped to limit the increase in CO2 emissions from power generation to just 3.4%. Hydro-electric generation reached 67.6 TWh, an increase of 9.2 % compared with 2009 (61.9 TWh). Nuclear generation amounted to 407.9 TWh in 2010, an increase of 4.6 % on 2009 (390.0 TWh). At 15.2 TWh, generation from renewable energy sources other than hydro power rose by 23.7 % compared with 2009 (12.3 TWh), mainly due to an increase in wind power generation of 23.8 % (9.7 TWh) compared with 2009 (7.9 TWh) and, to a lesser extent, due to a four-fold increase in solar power generation (+0.4 TWh). These progressions are consistent with the 26.0 % rise in installed capacity for wind power, and the four-and-a-half-fold increase in installed capacity for solar power. Fossil thermal generation rose to 59.5 TWh, an increase of 8.4 % compared with 2009 (54.9 TWh) ; also worth noting is the 24.4% increase in gas-based generation which reached 29.9 TWh in 2010, compared with 24.1 TWh in 2009. Over the winter of 2010/2011, the peak load reached 96.7 GW on 15/12/2010, a new absolute record following that set on 14/12/2010 (94.6 GWh). This value is 3.9 % higher than the peak load recorded the previous winter (93.1 GW) on 11/02/2010, |
