| Abstract | The Transportation problem is a special class of Linear Programming Problem. It deals with shipping commodities from different sources to various destinations. The objective is to determine the shipping schedule that minimizes the total shipping cost while satisfying supply and demand limits. In general, the transportation model can be extended to areas other than the direct transportation of a commodity, including among others, inventory control, Engineering & Technology, Management sciences, Employment scheduling. In this paper, I have tried to reveal that the proposed direct methods namely NMD Method, Exponential Approach for finding optimal solution of a Transportation problem do not present optimal solution at all times. |
