| Abstract | A networking concept that will greatly benefit from an optical transparent broadband access network is the personal network. This paper discusses an architecture to provide optical transparency until the personal area network of a user. The user accesses remote resources via a wireless connections. Traffic streams generated by the users are considered to optimize the design of the optical access architecture. In this paper, the traffic streams are considered through a brief analysis in the wireless domain. The considerations provide the reader with an indication of the dimensions of typical FTTPAN architectures as well as the impact on the distribution of traffic streams and the overall design. |
