| Abstract | : Connecting the Computer Algebra systems MuPAD and Singular based on the Multi Protocol (MP) is an ongoing joint project of the respective developer teams. This report explains the principles of the prototype implementation of such a connection. Introduction MuPAD is a general purpose Computer Algebra (CA) system. Detailed information and the latest MuPAD release can be found at: http://www.mupad.de. Singular is a special-purpose CA system for polynomial computations emphasizing the needs of commutative algebra, algebraic geometry and singularity theory. Among others, it features one of the fastest and most general implementations of algorithms for computing Grobner bases. Making these available to MuPAD users has obvious advantages: it single-handedly exports the know-how and state-of-the-art of an area of CA which, so far, has hardly been supported by MuPAD, and enables very efficient computations of Grobner bases. However, the requirements of a MuPAD - Singular connection make... |
