| Abstract | structure ABSTRACT: Long-term post-fire dynamics of mediterranean pine communities were followed in terms of changes in species richness, species abundance and vegetation cover. Three different chronosequences that represented the major types of Pinus halepensis forests of Central Greece. In all cases, the dominant species of the mature stand were found to regenerate after fire, thus participating to the structure of vegetation from the initial point. Differences in the patterns of vegetation dynamics recorded between the studied chronosequences are related to differences in the initial structure of the woody vegetation component. 1 |
