| Description | In this paper Interoperability Architecture (IA) for distributed processing is proposed to provide an uniform platform for application developed and coordination over a family of languages and software tools. The basic properties of IA and its functional model are described. As a building IA component Interoperability Server (IS) is specified in a form of generic module which may be customized for different languages and software tools. Computations may consist of grains of different sizes, depending on the set of cooperating systems. No new language for execution control is introduced. If there is a need for an explicit coordinator, some program written in any system added to IA may serve that purpose. 1 Introduction Today's information systems consist of a vast network of distributed computing and information resources. With growing number of such systems, there is an increasing need for technology to integrate them and coordinate their cooperation, creating an integrated distribut... |
