| Abstract | Educators often hear students comment "I don't know what I want to do with my degree. " This is similar to how marketers constantly deal with challenges that arise due to the changing environment. Students, like many businesses, do not use strategic planning to prevent the loss of resources associated with developing the wrong product, targeting the wrong market, etc. in most principles of marketing courses two goals are to increase students ' understanding of marketing concepts and to increase students ' skills in a variety of areas, such as communication (both written and oral), decision-making, cooperation, etc. Since understanding occurs most effectively by application, the authors developed an experiential project that achieves both of these goals. This paper highlights a semester-long project, which involves each student marketing a product they should know best, themselves. |
