| Description | . The interest in agent based technologies in the sense of distributed computing is continuously increasing in academic and industrial research and development. But the concentration of research in distinct niches has lead to a lack of consensus regarding basic concepts of agent theory and their relation to the development of agent systems and applications. This gap between theory and practice has been recognized and many research groups focus on the relation of formal specification methods for agent properties to the design of practical multi agent systems (MAS). In this paper we describe the design and implementation of CASA, a multi agent specification language that builds on an existing formal agent specification approach [13] and extends it by concepts from concurrent logic programming. With CASA it is possible to design agents with complex behavior patterns (e.g. parallel strategies, speculative computations). Application areas of CASA agents are manufacturing systems... |
