| Abstract | this paper was to calculate analytically the stopping power and the energy loss straggling of slow projectiles carrying electrons and proceeding in the electron gas. The Lindhard dielectric function formalism was used with the approximation coming from the assumption that the projectile velocity and the energy transferred to the medium are low. For the description of the electron distribution around the projectile nucleus the Thomas Fermi approximation was used. In the analytical calculations both the screening and the antiscreening effects were included. In this paper m; e; a 0 ;v 0 are the electron rest mass, the elementary charge, the Bohr radius and the Bohr velocity, respectively. Atomic units are used. 2. Calculation Procedure |
