| Abstract | The paper argues for the necessity of a mixed approach to usability evaluation at the ship’s bridge and proposes a generic, but practical framework for this purpose. The proposed approach concerns the usability evaluation of ship bridge interactive systems and combines the biometric tools of gaze tracking & speech recording for measuring emotional user responses with usability testing. The ultimate goal of this research is to find and test the critical factors that influence the usability of ship bridge equipment and the ability to conduct fulltime system control by the marine crew. Keywords Ship’s bridge; usability; eye-tracking; evaluation, lexical analysis. 1. |
