| Abstract | This paper describes aspects of a current PhD research project in the area of distributed object technology. The main focus of the project is the use of this technology within the domains of Groupware and Multimedia applications. Groupware applications typically involve co-operation between several users and are often expressed in terms of operations on shared (and possibly distributed) objects e.g. shared document editors, virtual reality environments or indeed shared network based services. Multimedia applications involve the use and transport of special forms of program data e.g. images, sound and audio / video streams. |
