| Abstract | As ship systems become more integrated and automated, and crew sizes decrease, human systems integration (HSI) must be considered as part of the ship design process. The existing HSI process is usually informal, and ship designers are typically familiar with only the most basic HSI design criteria. Computer modeling is a compelling means for the designer to address HSI more rigorously, thus dramatically enhancing performance and capability of the shiphuman system. |
