| Abstract | Object-oriented design and development are popular concepts in today's software development environment; they have proved their value for systems that must be maintained and modified. Object-oriented software development requires a different approach from traditional development methods, including the metrics used to evaluate the software. With object-oriented analysis and design methods gaining popularity, it is time to investigate object-oriented quality metrics. Since metrics should never be developed in a void, let’s have a look at criteria for the metrics, and then discuss specific metrics for object-oriented designs, including traditional metrics and metrics developed to measure specific object-oriented structures We will answer the following questions: • What concepts and structures in Object-oriented design affect the quality of the software? • Can traditional metrics measure the critical Object-oriented structures? |
