| Abstract | The impact of major I/O system parameters 011 the performance of RAID-5 disk arlrzy systems is described in this paper. It is shown that the system throughput is a nonlinear function of the uumber of disks per rank, number of ranks in the system, compounded data rate of SCSIs in-stalled between a host and a controller, the size of a controller buffer, the way files are striped across individual disks, and the application de-pendent read/write ratio. |
