| Description | CGIAR research agenda for 1996 as recommended by TAC. After decisions made in March 1995 at TAC 66, centers adjusted their proposals as reflected here. The Ministerial level meeting at Lucerne in February 1995 agreed to a revised pattern of CGIAR decision making on the research agenda and its funding. Henceforth, the agenda and its expected costs would be approved at the mid term meeting of the CGIAR, instead of at International Centers Week as in the past. This would enable donors to reach final financing decisions by October, so that levels of available funding would be known at ICW, reducing the level of uncertainty.The research agenda was therefore presented for the first time at the CGIAR Mid Term Meeting May 1995. There were two documents. TAC's substantive recommendations in this record were supplemented by a CGIAR Secretariat paper on Financial Requirements of the 1996 CGIAR Research Agenda, found in a separate record. Annexes contain an overview of approved center medium term plans for 1994-1998, the breakdown of CGIAR research and research-related activities, and TAC commentaries on center p&bs for 1996. |
