| Description | Background, objectives and agenda of a regional workshop for promoting partnerships and collaboration between the CGIAR and national and regional agricultural research in the Caribbean. The workshop was scheduled for January 1996, and was convened by the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI), and the University of the West Indies, with support from the CGIAR and IARCs. This paper was presented to TAC by ISNAR in connection with a systemwide initiative for interaction with the NARS of small countries. It reveals both the eagerness of the NARS involved to work with IARCs, and their frustrations. There is a summary of the views of a regional consultation of Latin American and Caribbean Regional and National Research Systems held in Lima in March 1995. |
