Abstract	It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Workshop on Exploratory Search and Interactive Data Analytics ( ESIDA) co-located with the International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces -- IUI 2017. The workshop provides a forum for presentation of research results on cutting edge issues in the area of exploratory search and data analytics, including models, systems, applications, and literature overview. ESIDA gives researchers an opportunity to share novel ideas in the broadly defined area of interactive information retrieval and identify new directions for future research and development. The call for papers attracted submissions from Asia, North America, South America and Europe. The program committee reviewed and accepted 7 long papers and 5 short papers. We also encourage attendees to attend the keynote presentations. These valuable and insightful talks can and will guide us to a better understanding of the challenges and future directions of interactive search: From Search to Discovery with Visual Exploration Tools, Eduardo Veas (the Know-Centre, Graz University, Austria) Personalization in the Context of Relevance-Based Visualization, Peter Brusilovsky (University of Pittsburgh, USA).
