| Abstract | It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 11th ACM International Workshop on Data Warehousing and OLAP -- DOLAP'08. This year's workshop continues its tradition of being the premier forum where both researchers and practitioners can share their findings in theoretical foundations, current methodologies, practical experiences, and new research directions in the areas of data warehousing and on-line analytical processing. The mission of the workshop is to explore novel research directions and emerging application domains in the areas of data warehousing and OLAP, and identify new directions for future research and development. DOLAP gives researchers and practitioners a unique opportunity to share their perspectives with others interested in the various aspects of access control. The call for papers attracted 29 submissions from 16 different countries. The program committee accepted 12 papers that cover a variety of topics, including performance optimization, multidimensional queries, multidimensional design and ETL, and tools for data warehousing and OLAP. The papers in the area of performance optimization address the compression of bitmap indexes, the fragmentation of XML data, and the order of transactions. The papers on multidimensional queries present novel methods for the aggregation of spatial measures, the improvement of the estimation accuracy of aggregates, and the management of aggregations by means of User Defined Functions. The papers on multidimensional modeling and ETL insight into the management of referential integrity violation, the solution of summarizability problems, and the generation of natural language representations for the ETL process requirements and operations. Finally, the papers on tools for data warehousing and OLAP deal with the recommendation of OLAP queries, the semantic annotation of measures, and the automatic translation of queries from the conceptual level to the actual implementation. We hope that these proceedings will serve as a valuable reference for warehousing and OLAP researchers and developers. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
