| Abstract | It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 26th ACM International Symposium on High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing (HPDC 2017), and with it to the historical city of Washington D.C., the capital and seat of government of the United States of America. This year's HPDC continues its nearly three-decade tradition as the premier annual conference for presenting the latest research on the design, implementation, evaluation, and the use of parallel and distributed systems for high-end computing. As in the previous years, HPDC 2017 focuses on defining and expanding the state-of-the-art of the field, by having the best work selected by and for our community, and by bringing together highprofile and rising researchers and industry practitioners to present their work and discuss existing and emerging challenges in the field. Overall, we had 100 high quality submissions, from which we have selected a set of 19 excellent articles (19% acceptance ratio for 2017, in line with the past decade's 15-20% acceptance rate). Our decisions have been made through a rigorous two-round review process with over 350 reviews, online discussion of second-round 45 candidates for acceptance, and a face-to-face program committee meeting. This year we have opted for full-papers only and the accepted articles have benefited from careful monitoring and shepherding. From among the best articles, after careful consideration we have awarded a Best Paper Award. The program is further enriched by our keynote speakers, invited panelists, and you, the attendees of the conference. This year, we have also analyzed the performance of our reviewers, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and will be awarding a Best Reviewer Award. To facilitate the comparison among the many strong submissions, the reviewers followed a review format that encourages focus on innovation, on quality of the proposed research and of the technical content, and does not forget the problem statement and the quality of the presentation. Although quantity does not equate quality, we are happy to count over 35 reviewers with written reviews of on average 500 words of longer, and 13 reviewers who have written over 4,000 words in total (the rough equivalent of a workshop paper!). We thank the Program Committee members for their effort, expertise, and dedication to the lasting reputation of HPDC, acknowledging also the additional reviews completed upon request. We also thank the tens of additional reviewers without whom the selection of a conference program would have been much more difficult. The entire Organizing Committee has been of great support and able to perform in parallel and distributedly, while delivering high performance. We would like to thank them all, and in particular the Workshops Chairs Rich Wolski (University of California at San Diego, USA) and Ana Lucia Varbanescu (University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands), the Poster Chair Radu Prodan (University of Innsbruck, Austria), the Publications Chair Antonino Tumeo (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), the Sponsorship Chair Dean Hildebrand (IBM Almaden Research Center), the Travel Grant Chair Patrick Bridges (University of New Mexico, USA), the Publicity Co-Chairs Torsten Hoefler (Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich, Switzerland), Shuaiwen Leon Song (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, USA), and Kenjiro Taura (The University of Tokyo, Japan), and the Web Chair Zach Leidall (University of Minnesota, USA). |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
