| Abstract | This workshop intends to foster discussions on a potentially key enabling technology - cloud-enabled sensing - for next-generation computing paradigms such as the Internet-of-Things (IoTs). Technological advances in recent times have seen proliferation of sensing and monitoring with multiple modalities of sensors - using modern sensor platforms such as Crossbow Motes, crowd sensing, mobile sensing - to name a few. The enablement of next-generation computing will depend on how the multi-modal sensing data from different sources can be handled in real-time in a secure, sustainable, and accurate manner. Recent advances in the domains of big data analytics and cloud computing have made such large-scale data handling a feasible proposition both from the perspective of algorithms as well as infrastructure capabilities. This workshop focuses on how to marry these technological advances, and ensure sensing and monitoring of everything over the cloud. Specific topics of the workshop cut across issues from the above areas with emphasis on the integration of multi-modal sensor technologies and networking, cloud computing, and big data analytics. |
