Abstract	This volume provides the permanent record of the Technical Program of the 1963 Fall Joint Computer Conference. In organizing the program, specific attention was directed toward providing a broad cross-section of material which covered all aspects of the field and reversing the trend toward concentration on software apparent in the past few Conferences. The accomplishment of this goal is exhibited by the large number of papers contained herein, encompassing hardware, software, systems, and applications. In addition, a group of papers presents specific proposals for the application of computers to important social problems. The volume contains the full text of the 55 papers, selected for presentation and discussion at the Conference. It represents the culmination of much hard work by many people---in particular, the authors, to whom we are indeed grateful for their contributions; the Technical Program Committee, session chairmen, panelists, and reviewers who put together the program; and the entire Conference Committee whose untiring efforts made the Conference possible.
